Creating a Games Legacy - South West Sports Leaders
This project will provide opportunities for all Sports Leaders
in each of the counties in the South West of England to engage with
and support community activities, county-wide events, holiday
activities, evening sports and activity sessions. It will present a
positive platform for all Sports Leaders to get recognition and be
inspired that they are contributing to a 2012 sporting legacy in
the South West.
The project will bring together key
stakeholders including Sports Development teams, County Sports
Partnerships, School Sports Partnerships, Leisure Centres, Youth
Services, Youth Offending Teams, Sports Clubs and relevant
community based programmes/projects. Additionally, the project will
engage with existing 2012 working groups to help them utilise
Sports Leaders in their local communities to deliver 2012 inspired
activities.
The project will seek to facilitate, encourage and coordinate
leadership activities that are inspired by 2012.
This will include:
- Identifying 2012 inspired Sports Leaders Ambassadors
- Developing and delivering localised events that can utilise
Sports Leaders and make a contribution towards a 2012 Sporting
Legacy
- Providing signposting opportunities to Sports Leaders to access
and support local 2012 inspired sessions taking place in each
county
- Where relevant formulating and delivering new 2012 inspired
sessions that will utilise Sports Leaders and provide new
participation opportunities
