Bath and North East Somerset Aquatics Programme

The Bath & North East Somerset Aquatics Programme is supported by the Amateur Swimming Association and is using the build up to London 2012 to inspire a whole new generation of youngsters in the BaNES and surrounding areas to take up swimming.

The programme consists of a seamless pathway – which will aim to increase participation in the sport at the base of the pyramid, offer the opportunity of competition experiences and ultimately develop elite athletes.

Using the power of London 2012, the programme focuses participants on what it is possible to achieve if they have ambition, mental and physical application to succeed at the highest level.  Local elite swimmers will be used as role models and mentors and provide visual stimulus through a series of swim clinics to inspire and motivate.

The programme will ensure the swimmer pathway from “arm bands to gold medals” is in place and is communicated and obvious to participants and their parents/guardians. This project brings to life the Olympic Legacy of inspiring young people by enabling them to train alongside top international swimmers and paralympians at Bath University.
