Accessibility Business Excellence Course

This project provides an opportunity for businesses from across the visitor economy in Bath to take part in an accessibility business excellence programme which will raise their awareness about accessibility and make their businesses more accessible.

The Great Britain Paralympic team is using the University of Bath as a Pre-Games Training Camp in the lead up to the 2012 Games and this has inspired Bath to think about its offer to disabled visitors.

Delivering a highly accessible Games, with world-class facilities for disabled people was a fundamental part of the bid to host the Games. The DCMS ‘London 2012: a legacy for disabled people’ commits to using 2012 to influence the attitudes and perceptions of people to change the way they think about disabled people and to drive improvements in business, transport and employment opportunities for disabled people. This project will seek to deliver this at a grass roots level in Bath.

Additionally, Bath is on the ‘tourist trail’ of England and benefiting from tourism has been flagged as one of the major potential benefits for the UK. This project is assisting businesses to take positive steps to help make the tourism benefits a reality.
