TEAM CORNWALL

Team Cornwall was established in 2006 to bring the legacies of London 2012 to life in the county.

Priorities for Cornwall

A number of priorities and major opportunities were identified for Cornwall:

  • Encouraging and supporting young people within the region through sponsorship of potential Olympians, curricular development in schools and colleges and cultural exchange with other countries
  • Developing volunteering by encouraging a network of trained local volunteers to work on behalf of the 2012 Games within the community or at one of the 2012 venues
  • Creating a spirit of togetherness by uniting local businesses, schools and communities

Kernocopia

Kernocopia was Cornwall’s official submission to the Cultural Olympiad and, being Cornish, it was offbeat. It was a glorious mash-up of Cornwall’s sporting, cultural, arts and heritage communities to mark and toast the 2012 London Olympics.

Kernocopia culminated in a theatrical pop-up performance that could be soaked up at venues across the South West during the summer of 2012. Visit the Kernocopia website for more information.

Contact

Team Cornwall had a website and produced a newsletter and the contact for Cornwall (at the time the Team South West website ceased to be updated) was Mike Thomas.
