Our Structure
South West England Board for the 2012 Games
The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of
the region’s activities and support for the London 2012 Games. The
Board is chaired by David Fursdon, the London 2012 Organising
Committee (LOCOG) Nations and Regions Group member for South West
England, and comprises public and private sector representation
from business, tourism, sport, volunteering, local authorities,
Dorset (the venue for the London 2012 sailing competition),
regional resilience, and RELAYS.
South West England Operations Group for the 2012 Games
While the Board provides the direction and strategy for the Team
South West partnership, the day-to-day regional liaison,
coordination and planning is carried out by an Operations Group led
by Deborah Bertram, the London 2012 Nations and Regions
Co-ordinator for the region.
Membership of the Operations Group includes Business Link, RELAYS,
a regional resilience representative, a local authority
representative, the London 2012 Cultural Programmer and the London
2012 Inspire Programmer.
County Working Groups
The Operations Group is supported by seven County Working
Groups, each with their own objectives and priorities for
maximising the opportunities offered by the London 2012
Games.
A person has been nominated in each county to act as the main point
of contact through which Deborah Bertram and the South West England
Operations Group for the 2012 Games communicate and disseminate
information throughout the region.
